Guiding at Austråttborgen
There is guidance at Austråttborgen in the season from June 1 to August 15. The cafe Borgstua is open. Austrått can be opened for tours all year round on request. There are also concerts, exhibitions, church services and other events at the castle.
Lady Inger of Austrått
Austrått is a gem in the community and a European cultural treasure. Mrs. Ingerd Ottesdatter was one of Austråtts most prominent and colorful owners. She played a significant role in the country’s history, especially in connection with the introduction of the Reformation. In her time – 1500 -‘s – the main building was erected. Since 1919 Austrått has been a national property.
Ove Bjelke was one of the leading men in the 1600s. He designed Austrått as we now see the building, eg the Pyramid from 1665 and the port gate surrounded by its noble weapon.
