Råkvåg, Norway – the place with the beautiful wharfs
See the old wharfs from the time when the herring fishing was great. There was also a cannery. Walk along the piers and breath the air from the sea and the old piers.
Stop by “Salteriet Kulturbrygge” where there is a large gallery and a restaurant. At the gallery there are approx. 80 exhibitors participating through the season. There are both established artists and amateurs participating. Have a coffee at “Marthabrygga“.
Anno 1930 by the wharfs
“Råkvåg Anno 1930” is an annual event in July where the time is reset. Then there is a market, music, dancing and an outdoor theatre play. We show you how people lived by herring fishing and what they sold at the marketplace.
is a fisheries museum that tells the story of Råkvåg. The famous painter Magne Sandøys had his studio here. There is also a restaurant and pub.
Enjoy coastal nature
In Råkvåg you will find several hiking trails with views of the coastal scenery, mountains, the river and the fjord.
