The Beach bar Stokkøya Sjøsenter, Norway, serves you a gourmet meal based on available local produce.
Roar Svenning and Torild Langklopp will tell you about shellfish and what you will have. And how do you open oysters, how about scallops? Where do they grow, which wines to select? Don`t worry, the hosts will guide you.
Crayfish and scallops from nearby island Frøya
-We serve crayfish and scallops from Frøya and lobster and green sea urchins from Stokkøya, says Torild Langklopp (manager at Strandbaren). -We will tell you how we catch them, and what can be sustainable harvesting. Raw scallops and oysters are good, but they are also delicious served fried, etc.
A love for food
At the Beach bar at Stokkøya you may attend shellfish courses, concerts, literature events, etc.
-Wintertime is the most wonderful season for shellfish – the quality is best then.
2015 is the fourth year we organize “Love for food” and shellfish courses. We can arrange a similar arrangement for you if you arrive in a group, except in the summer.
Else the menu concists of good food from sea and land, like food from wild sheep.
-We will offer even more courses when we have finished builing the Food Laboratory. There will be a production kitchen where we will work on research and development.
Food, nature, architecture and experiences
During a year Stokkøya Sjøsenter and Strandbaren arranges many events like concerts, food arrangements, literature evenings, etc.
The vacinity offers a lot of activities that stimulates the appetite. It’s great to walk along the long beach or hike the inland of Stokkøya. How about taking a bicycle ride across the Linesøya bridge to the nearby island Linesøya? At the bridge you will have a panoramic view and a lot of fresh ocean air!
